MUSIC TRAINING

On the nature of our teaching method

After a concert, the Youth Orchestra of the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, Guayaquil, Ecuador, 2019

Our program welcomes students between the ages of seven and eighteen, with flexibility for older students when participation can meaningfully enrich their lives. At its heart is a youth orchestra, a community where young people learn not only to perform, but also to listen, collaborate, and work toward a shared purpose.

Students receive a strong musical foundation through individual instruction, ensemble performance, ear training, music theory, and choral singing. For those who wish to pursue music at a higher level, chamber music and solo performance opportunities provide additional pathways for artistic growth.

We believe that music education engages the whole person. Alongside technical and artistic development, students build discipline, confidence, focus, and a deeper awareness of themselves and others. Through regular rehearsals and performances, they learn the value of commitment, teamwork, and perseverance.

Our faculty live and work in the Galápagos for a significant part of the year, creating lasting relationships with students and the community. They are joined by visiting artists from around the world who bring new perspectives, experiences, and inspiration.

The result is more than a music program. It is an education that helps young people develop their talents, broaden their horizons, and discover how they can contribute to the world around them.
