Kevin Vigneau

Kevin Vigneau has enjoyed an international career as an orchestral player, soloist, teacher and chamber musician. He is Professor of Oboe at the University of New Mexico and principal oboe of the New Mexico Philharmonic. He also served as principal oboe of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, and English Horn with the Opera Company of Boston Orchestra. He performs with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.

As a recitalist and soloist he has performed in Guayaquil, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Banff, Xalapa, Morelia, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Cape Town, the Azores, Taiwan, Cologne, and at many colleges and universities in the United States. He has recorded for EMI Classics, Summit and Centaur Records as well as for the South African Broadcasting Society. He has performed as a chamber musician with Music from Angel Fire and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.

 

 

Kevin Vigneau holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Yale University where he studied with Ronald Roseman and where he was awarded the Dean’s Prize for the outstanding member of the graduating class. He also studied with Ralph Gomberg and Laurence Thorstenberg at Boston University.
